Glee veteran Nolan Funk will join Arrow in the currently-filming episode "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak," playing Felicity's ex-boyfriend from college, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The report indicates his character name will be "Cooper Seldon," although whether that wink-and-a-nod to Jim Parsons's Emmy Award-winning turn on The Big Bang Theory will actually stick or whether it's a misdirect to hide a familiar DC Universe name is unclear.

The piece refers to Seldon as "Felicity's hacker boyfriend from her days at MIT," noting that it is not clear whether the character will be appearing in flashbacks or during the present day storyline (or both).

The image above, originally posted to Emily Bett Rickards's Instagram page with the caption "I'm so sorry, @nolanfunk," was the first indication that he would play a role in the episode. Based on the furniture alone, it seems to be part of a flashback sequence or at least set somewhere that we've not seen on Arrow before, but that's speculation.

(Note that there's no likely no mysteries contained herein; that's a Cryopak brand ice pack that happens to be white, not a piece of paper with something about crypreservation written on it.)

Arrow returns on October 8 at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW.
