Michelle Rodriguez Responds To Green Lantern Rumors

TMZ's camera crew ran into Fast and Furious star Michelle Rodriguez and asked her if she'll be the next Green Lantern, because apparently that is a rumor. I've never heard it, but they seem to think it's worth asking about. It was news to Rodriguez too, who supplied them with headline-catching response as to why she isn't right for it.

"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard," Rodriguez told TMZ. "Yeah, I think is so stupid to like ... because of this whole like minorities in Hollywood thing. But it's so stupid. Like, stop stealing, you know, all the white people's superheroes. Like, make up your own. Know what I'm saying? What's up with that?"   

The only possible rumor that TMZ might be onto is actually speculation, not a rumor. And that would be Warner Bros. choosing to go with Jessica Cruz as the next Green Lantern instead of a more traditional choice like Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner or John Stewart. Cruz was unwillingly chosen by the Ring of Volthoom, which is considered an evil ring that drains power from the user. It feeds on the users fear, thus is considered the opposite of a Green Lantern ring. The former bearer of the ring was Hal Jordan of Earth 3.
